September 3, 2026 Well; my last boss mysteriously stopped working for us 2 days ago (mum's the word) and the top management and her associate have taken over. Thankfully for us the staff has their wits about them and can function on their own fairly effectively. They are looking for someone else who would be my 4th boss in less than 5 years... Anyway; like the rest of life we have to sort of "go with the flow". Something else I would like prayer about is a counselor who has helped me for years; nominally Christian who was there for me during my separation and divorce debacle (who actually had the guts at the time to tell my ex she had no business being involved with anyone else which elicited crocodile tears but no real change on her part); and was with me during the mentally abusive full time position I formerly had; and more recently sharing some personal things with her family members when I had to deal with my mom's level 4 cancer and my Dad's dementia as a caretaker. Anyway she has forgotten the appointment several times (she always gets back to me eventually); and I am going to plan to phase them out for once a month and eventually eliminate them altogether. What I am praying for is wisdom in talking with her (no doubt she will not want to phase me out as long as my Dad is around with the challenges of Dementia; although he is institutionalized so I just need regular visits to ensure staff is doing their job and of course still attempt to share the Gospel with him. Thought for the day \ FDR (Roosevelt) once famously stated that the "only thing we have to fear is fear itself"; this was apparently at his first inaugural address in 1933. Following that; of course was several years of additional economic pains of the Great Depression; and World War Two which he almost lived out to the end with a partial 4th term before Truman arguably ended the war through his decision to drop "fat man" and the other bombs on Japan. We can certainly see a recurring theme; as nothing new is under the sun as Ecclesiastes states in chapter 1; verses 9-10 and apparently infers 29 other times the same concept. History may repeat itself; but we are to fear God not man. (Proverbs 29:25 along with numerous other passages about the fear of the Lord. Only God can determine where the soul goes after death Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. John 12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. These passages show us that real life; or fullness of life described in John 10:10 isn't a contradictory theme. All things are good when sanctified by God 1 Timothy 4:3 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: This verse is in referral to marriage as we see in verse 2; which is sanctified (verse 4); and certainly can be extended as Romans refers to by Paul (or the author) toward all ceremonially UNclean meats and such. Jesus Himself ate and drank with "sinners"; certainly the fellowship of those receptive to the Word would have been joyous as was the purpose; I would imagine the hypocritical Pharisees not so much. In any case to live is Christ and die is gain (Philippians 1:21). We have eternal rewards and lasting treasures in heaven; if we sow in tears we reap in joy (Psalm 126:5); a good theme for rewards of faithfully living out the Great Commissions of Matthew 24.
