Wherein the Bible does it say that if you are a socially awkward person or even just a shy person that it is sin, or wrong?
Dear Anonymous,
The Bible says that the whole world is under curse due to sin, that is, disobedience to God. Not only man, but the whole creation fell under the grip of physical, intellectual and social degeneration, suffering and death. It all began in Eden, and infests individuals, families, churches and nations! Bible says sin is the root cause of every evil.
But God, in his mercy prepared a way to save people. He sent his only son, Jesus Christ to the world. He promised freedom from the curse to anybody who believes in Jesus. A person who accepts Jesus as his saviour is free from sin and the consequent curse. Satan has no further claim over him. But the mystery is that he will not undergo any visible change in the body. The stutter will continue to stutter; The thorn will continue irritating; However, God will specially empower him to work for His eternal purpose; to spread the message of salvation . When you work for Him; your reward is great and assured! Jesus has completed his part of the work when he uttered, ”It is finished”. Mankind needs only look on to the cross, on to Jesus, to get saved. The Apostles and the true Christians of old had suffered a lot to witness Christ, to help people look up to the Saviour.
God uses weak and fragile people to perform the great work. He used Moses, the man with poor self-confidence, to free his people from the mighty Pharaoh and lead them to the promised land. God drained Paul off his physical and intellectual strength, his esteemed religious and political status; taught him to rely on God’s power alone, so that he may win nations for God.
Dear Anonymous, being inconspicuous is not a sin or draw back. “And the Lord said unto him, who hath made man’s mouth? Or who maketh the dumb, or the deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?” (Exodus 4:11) Sometimes physical incompetency is a gift and a special invitation directly from God to join His great work before it is dark. (John 9:2-4)
The church is not meant to be ‘infested with sin ‘ But rather to be a Holy temple and house of God.
The man with the unclean spirit in Capernium had been in that condition we do not know for how long but I would think that it was quite comfortable and at home(?) in the man for quite a while perhaps for a long time .
It was ony when the Lord full of the Holy Spirit entered that synagogue was the pressure so to speak put on it that it cried out and revealed itself and the Lord rebuked it and the man was delivered and set free.
“ Behold I stand at the door and knock and if any man has ears to hear and opens the door …….” Is the promise made to.
I suggest that a revival comes when the Holy Sprit fills te temple of God and thee is no room for anything else or “the unfruitful works of darkness”.
Having reduced The Gospel to being BORN again we have but a lot of indisciplined “ little children” but very few “ young men in whom the Word of God dwelleth richly and ye have overcome the wicked one”: and even fewer “ ye fathers you know Him who is from the beginning “
For too long the church has taken te words of Christ “ I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it “: purely as being on the defensive . But when have gates attacked anyone!?
Speaking of gates it’s as a great wall surrounding a city .The weakest point of that wall are the gates and are thus the most heavily defended .
By the Lords own words it’s not the church HE is building that is on the defensive from the ‘gates of hell’ but it’s the gates of hell that will not prevail against His church!
Who it is prophesied will “come out of the wilderness terrible as an army with banners leaning ( not upon her own understanding ) upon her beloved”More than conquerors through Him that loved us “
What for that matter is MORE than a conqueror?
So let us put off every weight and the sin that so easily besets us ( unbelief ?) and go on to perfection ……..”
No, the Bible does not teach that being shy or socially awkward is a sin. There is nothing in Scripture that condemns someone simply because they are quiet, reserved, or uncomfortable in social situations.
Look at Moses in Exodus 4:10. When God called him to speak to Pharaoh, Moses said, "O my Lord, I am not eloquent." God knew Moses had difficulty speaking, yet He still called him and promised to help him.
And remember what God told Samuel in 1 Samuel 16:7: "for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."
There's a difference between being shy and refusing to obey God out of fear. But simply being shy is not a sin, and we should never place a burden on someone that God Himself has not placed on them.
